Ways to Support Our School System

The Bosco Catholic School System relies on the support of our alumni, families, and friends throughout the year for assistance with our day-to-day operating costs and special projects not covered by tuition or parish subsidies.

With these funds we are able to provide the most up-to-date technology, enhance existing programs, and add new projects and programs to make sure our students have every resource needed for a first-class education. Gifts also assist in the maintenance of our campus facilities.

Your annual gifts of support to our Bosco Strong Annual Appeal and other needs make this dream a reality. Your gifts to our Endowment Fund set us up for long-term success.

Ways to Give

One-Time Gifts – Cash, Checks or Credit Cards

  • You may send or drop your donation or Give Online.

  • Checks should be made payable to: Bosco Catholic School System, PO Box 106, Gilbertville, IA  50634

  • Please note what the donation is for (Bosco Strong Annual Appeal, Immaculate Conception Endowment, Don Bosco Endowment, or a specific need).

  • Help us save on postage by providing an email address for your thank you/tax receipt.

Recurring Gifts

  • Make it monthly! Set up a recurring gift online with a credit card or bank account.

Matching Gifts

  • Many employers have matching gift programs and will match part or all of the charitable contributions made by their employees.

  • To find out if your company has a matching gift program, contact your Human Resources department. Let us know if you need a gift receipt to provide for your match to occur. Contact the Development Office at development@boscocatholic.org or call 319-296-1692.

Gifts of Securities

  • Gifts of appreciated assets, such as stocks or mutual fund shares, are another way to provide immediate support to the school.
  • Avoid long-term capital gains and receive a deduction for the full market value of your asset at the time of your gift.

Gifts of Grain

  • Gifts of Grain serve as a way for agricultural producers to maximize tax benefits while supporting Bosco Catholic School system.
  • Giving a commodity means your business does recognize a sale, so income will not be recorded for tax purposes. You will also save what you would have paid in self-employment tax on that amount. You can save twice with a gift of grain!
  • Each agricultural producer's situation is different. Please consult your professional tax advisor to determine whether gifting grain will benefit you.

Pledges

  • You may make one or more payments during the course of the school’s fiscal year which ends on June 30.

  • The amount and number of installments is entirely up to you.

Gifts to the Bosco Catholic School System are tax deductible as allowed by law. Receipts are provided.

Planned Giving

Membership in the Bosco Catholic School System Legacy Society recognizes individuals who have made planned gifts to the school. By joining the Legacy Society, you can not only establish a lasting memorial for yourself or a loved one but also help ensure that the ongoing success of our faith-based education continues well into the future.

If you are thinking about a gift--or have already made provisions for a gift to the Bosco Catholic School System in your will but have not let us know--please contact us so we can appropriately recognize your commitment.

If you would like to receive information on how to include the Bosco Catholic School System in your estate plans, please call or send an email to Laura Dobson, Development Director, Ldobson@boscocatholic.org.

Other opportunities to support our school system:

We are all asked to share our time, talents and treasures. You can volunteer to help coordinate and organize events and projects. You can also volunteer to work at these events and projects. We always need help with the Immaculate Conception Fun Run (fall), organizing PTO's can shed, concessions and admission at activities. Let us know if you would like to be on a planning, alumni, marketing, or endowment committee or on our Foundation board.

Thank you for volunteering your time to help.

Target Visa Card

By using your Target VISA card with every purchase (at Target or elsewhere just like any other VISA credit card) you can designate the Bosco System (or Don Bosco or Immaculate Conception) as the recipient of the money Target donates. Visit www.target.com for more information and to designate our school to receive the proceeds from your purchases.

Can Redemption

Donate your cans and bottles to the school by dropping them off at the can recycling shed on the north side of the high school.

Hy-Vee Cash for Students

Save your cash register receipts and turn them in to any school office. Hy-Vee donates $1.00 for every $200 in receipts. These receipts are due each year by April 30.

Recycled Greeting Cards

Several ladies of Immaculate Conception Parish recycle greeting cards and sell them for $0.50 each (Christmas cards are 4 for $1). They make cards for most every occasion.  Proceeds from card sales support various projects for Immaculate Conception Church as well as Bosco Catholic School System.

Cards can be purchased at the following locations:

Immaculate Conception Church - back of church by the east entrance
Casey's - Gilbertville
Farmers State Bank - Gilbertville
Friendship Village - Waterloo
La Porte City Senior Citizen Center - La Porte City
Linda's Cut 'n Curl (Linda Thome) - Raymond

To donate cards to be recycled, please leave them in the back of Immaculate Conception Church.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
